How do you make a special someone's, v special day, really really special?
1. You give them your day (no you don't need to be compensated by ur employer for this)
2 You give them your undivided attention for the day (ok smartphone 📲 distraction excepted)
3. You don't judge them and their choices (atleast for the day! C'mon man, I am trying to help here 😅)
4. You take them to a lovely spot for dinner. @violetoonsingapore is totally worth it
5. You invite some best friends over (o.k. I mean you can invite them another day but you must not forget to invite. They'll be v angry if you don't!)
6. You get them something v v special from their birth year 💕💕. If you haven't worked this one out, well what are we here for 😃? 🍷🍷
We had the opportunity to celebrate a special day of a friend and the 1981 Capezzana Reserva paired with the Peranakan delicacies from @violetoonsingapore. The silkiness of the tannins complemented the gentle and expressive flavors of the Peranakan cusine where even a vegetarian like me was spoilt for choices
Recorked in 2008, this is a wine that Decanter in a recent vertical tasting at the Capezzana cellars rated it 96 suggesting it had "a firecracker minerality on the nose" and remarking "the amazing complexity surrounds a delicate, refreshing palate supported by silky tannins and outstanding savouriness."
V v limited, v v rare and v v v good!
Tasting notes and Review
"The 1981 vintage registered a favourable climate, not too hot yet dry, resulting in very good ripening. Indeed the wine is one the most elegant of the tasting. Very pale ruby to garnet in colour, there's a kind of firecracker minerality on the nose followed by boiled beetroot, wild strawberry, dried fig and bitter orange. This amazing complexity surrounds a delicate, refreshing palate supported by silky
tannins and outstanding savouriness." - 96/100, Aldo Fiordelli, Decanter, Sep 2020
