Tasting Notes & Reviews:
"Lots of ripe red cherries and Christmas cake, but also fresh minerals, herbs, Chinese spices, orange rind and citrus. The palate is mouth-watering with layers of fruit as well as so much fresh acidity that it is almost too much, but it comes around on the rich finish. Drink now or hold." 91/100 James Suckling Oct 2017
"Very subtle nose with some sweet fruit and claret-like in build. Dry finish and actually for me no better than the Villa di Capezzana – maybe a little longer lived but very different in character." 17/20 Jancis Robinson, June 2017
The wine & Estate
This pure Sangiovese comes from the Viticciana vineyard. This vineyard was commissioned by Patriarch of the family, Ugo Contini Bonacoss who also had a hand in design and build. It has the characteristic of having the rows interrupted by two "gabled" roads, counter-sloping, which channel rainwater and avoid the erosion of the precious earth. The rows are embellished with rose plants chosen by him and lovingly watered in summer. Perfect exposure. The grapes are harvested by hand.
