Tasting notes and Reviews
"The Mauro Veglio 2017 Barbera d'Alba Cascina Nuova is a beautiful wine that flaunts purity, carefully measured intensity and a whole lot of dark, plummy fruit. It reveals a sultry dark color and velvety texture, all supported by dried blackberry, black currant and fragrant potting soil. The hot and dry 2017 vintage smoothed out and softened all that dark fruit. The wine is grounded and firm, with ample thickness and texture. Fruit comes from 50- to 60-year-old vines planted near the Mauro Veglio winery in La Morra. It ages in oak, both new and used, for 18 months. Some 6,500 bottles were made." 92/100, Monica Larner, Robertparker.com Jul 2020
"A very ripe red with blackberry, light raisin and dark-chocolate character. It’s full-bodied with round tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink now." 91/100, James Suckling, Aug 2020
