Tasting Notes & Reviews:
Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie 2016
"Dark raspberry jam and creme de cassis with dried orange peel and preserved plums. There is a hint of fine musk on the palate that marries with the black plums and a bittersweet accent. The tannin is silky and smooth, but still assertive. Very long and nuanced. Amarone warmth here, but really well-poised. Sustainable. Drink or hold." 94/100, James Suckling, Aug'2022
Carmenere 2016, Tenuta San Leonardo
"The Tenuta San Leonardo 2016 Carmenère is less immediately expressive compared to the warm 2015 vintage that I tasted at the same time. However, my money is on this bottle for longer aging potential, and I'm sure the wine's aromas will prove fluid and complex with additional bottle age. Even now, it shows enormous precision with dark fruit, spice and a good dose of crushed white pepper." 94+/100, Monica Larner, Robert Parker, Dec'2022
Chateau Moulin Saint-Georges 2016
"A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Moulin Saint-Georges is a little closed to begin, sporting subtle notes of baked cherries, mulberries and fresh plums with touches of cedar chest, pencil shavings and bay leaves. Medium-bodied, the oak is a tad apparent at this youthful stage, lending a chewy nature to the texture yet with a great intensity of vibrant, youthful fruit to match, finishing with plenty of red fruit sparks." 93+/100, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker, Dec'2022
Graziano Pra Amarone 2017
"A burly wine of considerable concentration. A twine of green pepper, stalky fennel and Alpine amaro, with some barrique cedar edges. Yet the mid-palate lacks the gusto necessary to mitigate and ameliorate the herbal patina. Made on a drier side, with the pursuit of freshness evident. This may turn a corner. Drink or hold." 92/100, Ned Goodwin, James Suckling, May'2023
Tedeschi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Marne 180 2019
"Almost coffee-stained dried red berries on the nose, following through to a full, silky palate with fine tannins that have sunk into the wine nicely, carrying the intense bead of berry and dark cherry fruit through a long finish. Sustainable. Drinkable now, but will improve in the bottle." 93/100, James Suckling, May'2023
