Tasting notes & Reviews:

2020 Vintage
"
Charming and elegant, this exhibits cherry, strawberry, rose and sun-kissed grass aromas and flavors. Vibrant and harmonious, with a firm yet lingering finish. Drink now through 2026. 5,400 cases made, 500 cases imported." 91/100, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator

"The Fattoria dei Barbi 2020 Rosso di Montalcino promises a simple and easy-drinking approach, and that's exactly what it delivers. The wine is redolent of sweet cherry and redcurrant, but there are some tarry and earthy notes that are specific to Sangiovese from Montalcino." 88/100, Monica Larner, Robert Parker, Feb 2022

2018/2017:  Vintage
2018 was rated 93 from Ian D'Agata at Vinous and 2017 90 from Antonio Galloni at Vinous.
This red wine was born from the same grape as that of Brunello, the Sangiovese cultivated in Montalcino, and it comes from those young vineyards that give off those aromatic and elegant wines but it is not so tannic and full-bodied.

It is the ideal every day companion for family meals. Goes especially well with roasted and grilled meat (both beef and white meat), cheeses and casserole dishes.

Vinification:
Before the regular fermentation the grapes were subjected to a cold pre-fermentative maceration which consists in cooling the grapes at a temperature of 16° C. This process increases colour stability and improves extraction of polyphenols and aroma compounds. The alcoholic fermentation lasted 12/13 days at a controlled temperature of 29° – 30° C. This wine had about 6 months of refinement in small/medium oak barrels and stainless steel vats.
