The flag bearer, the pioneer, proudly carrying the weight of the enormous Carmignano legacy of quality wines for centuries, Villa di Capezzana is a true icon. Starting 1925, this super Tuscan blend in many ways had already been around for decades vowing the audience before the wine world became smitten with the super Tuscan movement.
While on an average the Villa di Capezzana is aged for about 2 yrs, first in French barriques and tonneaux and then in bottles, starting 2006 vintage, the producer started keeping aside a small selection, about 500 cases, to be released on the 10th anniversary of the vintage. Those who were lucky enough to lay hands on the 2006 10th anniversary edition should look back and pat themselves on the back for being among the few to get a piece of this extremely rare wine bottles.
2012 10th anniversary bottles landed early 2023.
It remains a real privilege for us to have the opportunity to have these 10th anniversary bottles in our portfolio for our customers. It's an absolutely glorious bottle which is proudly justifying its illustrious legacy.
Tasting notes & Reviews
2013 10th Anni Vintage
"This is maturing nicely, with ripe, sweet black currant, blackberry and black cherry core flavors accented by spice, leather, mineral and woodsy flavors. Complex, balanced and long, with an aftertaste echoing the fruit and savory elements. Drink now through 2037" 95/100, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator
"
2012 10th anni Vintage
"Aromas of porcini, sage, brambleberries, dried herbs and cloves. Some grilled meat, too. It’s medium-bodied with firm yet mellow tannins. Savory and delicious. Drink now or hold." 94/100 James Suckling, Jul

2011 10th anni Vintage
"A very pretty and balanced Carmignano that shows refinement and beauty. Medium to full body plus currant, cherry and mineral aromas and flavors. Clean and clear finish. Drink or hold." 93/100 James Suckling, Nov 2015
"The 2011 Carmignano Villa di Capezzana is round, open-knit and expressive, with plenty of depth and resonance. There is a level of purity here that is compelling. Sweet red plum, smoke, leather and tobacco flesh out on the silky, polished finish. Aging in French oak gives the Carmignano much of its supple personality. The blend is 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon." 92/100, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2016
